DNA Reveals History of Buried Slaves

DNA has helped scientists reconstruct the life histories and ancestry of enslaved individuals. Two men and one woman were dug up in 2010 in the Caribbean island of St. Martin, their skeletons dating back to the 17th century. What they found was that one of the men likely belonged to a Bantu-speaking group in northern Cameroon and the others were likely non-Bantu speakers from Nigeria or Ghana.
