Chioma Chukwu is a software developer who began her career in teaching, working part-time as a software programmer and developer. She coaches for Girl to Code for the international Technovation challenge. She founded a project called STEMTeers, that connect and engage young learners who hope to gain practical skills in their chosen STEM careers and inspire to create innovative solutions for their community. The STEMteers project, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has launched STEM clubs in around 21 schools reaching over 500 students (of which 50 percent are female students), and trained over 30 graduating students, while volunteering on design thinking using STEM, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. The STEMTeers project also launched the maiden edition of the innov8 competition for secondary schools in 2019 with the theme “waste recycling”, showcasing inspiring ideas from young students. She is a TechWomen Fellow, mentored at Mozilla Corporation San Francisco.
