Dr Thomford completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Ghana. He completed a degree in Master of Philosophy in Medical Biochemistry at the University of Ghana and pursue his PhD (Human Genetics) in a project involving pharmacogenomics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His research interests are in precision and genomic medicine focusing on pharmacogenomics, herb/drug-drug interactions, natural product therapeutics, microbiome and disease susceptibility and genomic basis for diseases in African populations and potential therapeutic targets towards personalized/precision medicine. In addition to being an editor for the Scientific African Journal, he serves as a Regional Editor for Systems Medicine Journal and review editor for Frontiers in Medicine (translational medicine section) He is reviewer for reputable peer-review journals and has supervised and examined postgraduate students (Hons and MSc). He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at several national and international conferences. He is collaborating with other researchers on several projects in other research and academic institutions.
