Moussa Hasan Ousseini , a doctoral candidate in SVT at Abdou Moumouni University, holds a Master’s degree in Zoology and Applied Physiology. He also did his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Organism Functioning from Abdou Moumouni University, Niger. His PhD focuses on socioeconomic, phenotypic and molecular characterization of local chicken in Niger. Since 2009, he has been a member of Youth Volunteer for Environment in Niger. Through Youth Volunteer, he supports women to change their method of cooking to reduce the effects of desertification. He won best prize at Africa Science Week 2018 in Niger “Your thesis in 3 minutes” contest. He is a member of a community of practice on local chicken. He is interested in studying the best means of breeding local chicken, as a means of fighting poverty and food insecurity in rural Niger.
