Fluid Mechanics and Energetics engineer by training, Abdou Idris is an assistant-professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Engineers at the University of Djibouti where he has been a faculty member since 2015. He obtained his engineering’s degree from Department of Mechanics- Energetics of the ENSIAME, one of the European “Grandes écoles” of Engineering located in France.
He is also a permanent member of the Energy Research Group (GRE) that contributes to the stated government policy on the energy transition and sustainable development. Currently, he is doing a joined PhD with the Centre for Energy and Thermal Sciences of Lyon in France on bioclimatic performance of buildings in a hot climate. Furthermore, his main research focuses on heat transfer and energy processes in buildings and their environment. Abdou Idris aspires to advance policies that provides a solution for affordable and well-adapted buildings suitable for private and community use, in both rural and urban settings. Beyond his vision as a young researcher, Abdou Idris has a passion for sharing scientific knowledge, and he aspires to change his students’ lives and give them new opportunities in modern science. Moreover, He is proud to regularly organize open seminar with construction professionals and general public to demystify and raise awareness among the public regarding the housing problems via conferences and meetings.
